Mint Mobile international roaming: Minternational Pass prices, free Canada data and what Mint says about Mexico
In short
Mint Mobile’s Minternational Pass costs $5 for 1 day with 1GB, $10 for 3 days with 3GB or $20 for 10 days with 10GB of high-speed data, in 180+ countries (checked on October 29, 2026, Mint international roaming).
Information verified on October 29, 2026 at the official sources listed below. Carriers change prices and terms; your own plan decides what you pay.

This site is not affiliated with Mint Mobile; we sell eSIMs. How we compare
You may not need an eSIM. Mint Mobile international roaming already covers Canada: 3GB of high-speed data a month on every plan. A short, light trip elsewhere fits one pass; stay on Mint then: same number, no second line.
Two bill traps come first: a Minternational Pass does not work in Canada, and Mint’s roaming and Canada pages say nothing about roaming in Mexico. We compare public packages; check your own plan.
How much is the Minternational Pass?
Mint sells three data pass tiers: $5 for 1GB over 1 day, $10 for 3GB over 3 days and $20 for 10GB over 10 days. A fourth pass, $5 for 30 days, has minutes and texts but no data (checked on October 29, 2026, Mint international roaming).
| Pass | Price | High-speed data | Minutes | Texts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1-day | $5 | 1GB | 60 | 60 |
| 3-day | $10 | 3GB | 200 | 200 |
| 10-day | $20 | 10GB | 500 | 500 |
| 30-day, no data | $5 | None | 100 | 100 |
After the high-speed data is used, Mint lowers your speed. Its page prints no speed figure, so we give none.
The passes cover 180+ countries, but Mint shows the list only in a search box. We print no list: search your destination on Mint’s page before you buy. For Wi-Fi calling abroad, Mint’s page offers its Wi-Fi Calling for “calls & texts back to the U.S. at no add’l cost”.
The table below is our arithmetic: the one pass that covers each trip length. Mint’s page does not say whether passes can run back to back, so we stop at 10 days.
| Days abroad | Pass that covers the trip (our arithmetic) | Price | High-speed data |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1-day pass | $5 | 1GB |
| 3 | 3-day pass | $10 | 3GB |
| 7 | 10-day pass | $20 | 10GB |
| 10 | 10-day pass | $20 | 10GB |
To go past the 10GB ceiling, split the two lines. Mint’s 30-day pass ($5, 100 minutes and 100 texts, no data) keeps calls and texts on your Mint number, and a travel eSIM carries the data. How two lines share calls and data: dual SIM.
That setup needs an unlocked phone that supports eSIM. Check both first: Is my phone unlocked? and Does my phone support eSIM?
Canada: 3GB a month on every Mint plan
Every Mint prepaid plan includes calls, texts and 3GB of high-speed data a month in Canada, since July 1, 2024. After the 3GB, speed drops to 128 kbps (checked on October 29, 2026, Mint: free roaming in Canada).
Turn on Data Roaming in your phone for Mint’s Canada data to work. A Minternational Pass does not work in Canada, so there is nothing to buy before the trip.
Once you have used 80% of the 3GB, you can add 1GB for $5, 3GB for $10 or 10GB for $20 (Mint: free roaming in Canada). The add-ons work only in Canada and do not roll over to the next month.
At 10GB, Mint’s $20 add-on costs less than our Canada eSIM plan of the same size, $25.99 for 30 days, data only (our arithmetic). In Canada, stay on Mint.
Does Mint Mobile work in Mexico?
Mint’s international roaming page and its Canada page do not mention roaming in Mexico (checked on October 29, 2026, Mint international roaming). We say neither yes nor no: ask Mint before you cross the border.
Mexico and Canada roaming are not one rule on Mint. Canada has its own allowance; for Mexico, search the pass list on Mint’s page and ask about data and calls separately. International calling from the US is a separate Mint feature, not roaming in Mexico.
Many US plans include Mexico, but Mint is not one we can confirm. If Mint says no, our Mexico plan is $12.99 for 5GB over 30 days, data only (Mexico eSIM). Mexico SIM options lists the other ways to connect.
eSIM on Mint and a travel eSIM next to your Mint line
New Mint customers with an unlocked, eSIM-compatible phone choose eSIM at checkout. The first 5 eSIMs in 12 months are free, then $3 each (checked on October 29, 2026, Mint eSIM help).
Mint unlocks its phones without a request. “Per our current policy, Mint Mobile phones will automatically be unlocked 60 days after activation on our network” (checked on October 29, 2026, Mint unlock policy). Our unlock table sets Mint’s rule beside other carriers.
Apple’s page says: “You can have two eSIMs active at the same time on supported iPhone models.” With both lines on, “your travel eSIM will be used for data.” Apple adds: “You might still incur roaming fees from your home eSIM” (checked on October 29, 2026, Apple).
So set the travel eSIM as the data line and turn off data roaming on the Mint line (dual SIM, data roaming). Your US number stays on your main line for 2FA codes and app verification. Most of our plans are data only; check the plan’s calls/SMS fields (keep your US number).
When a travel eSIM is worth it on Mint
A travel eSIM can win when 10GB is not enough, the trip runs past 10 days, or Mint’s pass search lacks your destination. In our arithmetic it does not win in Canada or on a 1-day trip (checked on October 29, 2026, Mint international roaming).
The Mint column is our arithmetic and assumes your destination is in the pass search, which we could not read. Our plans in the table are data only; the pass also covers minutes and texts on your own number.
| Trip | Mint Minternational Pass (our arithmetic) | Our plan, data only |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day in Europe | $5, 1GB, 1 day, 60 minutes, 60 texts | $4.99, 1GB, 7 days (Europe eSIM) |
| 3 days in Japan | $10, 3GB, 3 days, 200 minutes, 200 texts | $7.99, 3GB, 30 days (Japan eSIM) |
| 7 days in Europe | $20, 10GB, 10 days | $11.99, 5GB, 30 days |
| 10 days in Europe | $20, 10GB, 10 days | $18.99, 10GB, 30 days |
| 10 days in Japan | $20, 10GB, 10 days | $14.99, 10GB, 30 days |
The row where we do not win: 1 day in Europe. The totals are close, and Mint’s pass adds 60 minutes and 60 texts on your own number. A second line adds setup for nothing there.
If none of this fits you, stay on Mint. For a trip that needs more, work out your trip or see all carriers.
Frequently asked questions
Can Mint Mobile be used internationally?
Yes. The Minternational Pass works in 180+ countries: $5 for 1GB over 1 day, $10 for 3GB over 3 days, $20 for 10GB over 10 days. Mint shows its country list only in a search box, so search your destination there before you buy (checked on October 29, 2026).
How good is Mint Mobile for international travel?
Good for a short, light trip: one pass puts data, minutes and texts on your own number. The limits are the 10GB ceiling, no stated way to cover data past 10 days, and a country list you must search. A long trip or heavy data use can fit a travel eSIM better.
How do I turn on Mint Mobile international?
Buy a Minternational Pass inside your Mint account, then follow the activation steps on Mint’s international roaming page. We do not copy those steps here; check them before you leave the US (checked on October 29, 2026). In Canada there is no pass to buy, but Data Roaming must be on.
Does Mint Mobile work in Mexico?
Not confirmed. Mint’s international roaming page and its Canada page do not mention roaming in Mexico, so we make no claim either way. Ask Mint about data and calls in Mexico before you cross the border.
